As solicitors and Commissioners for Oaths at Premium Solicitors Ltd, we can draft a Sponsorship Declaration and/or witness the declarant(s)' signatures. A Sponsorship Declaration is a document whereby the UK sponsor declares that he/she intends to sponsor the applicant for a UK visa to visit or join him or her in the UK. The UK sponsor will also confirm that he will maintain and accommodate the applicant for the UK visa without recourse to public funds.

Visit Visa Sponsorship Declaration: Frequently Asked Questions
The following are various Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about visit visa sponsorship declaration services provided by our Solicitors and Commissioners for Oaths:
What is a visit visa sponsorship declaration?
A visit visa sponsorship declaration is a signed statement from a person or organisation supporting someone who wishes to visit the UK. It can explain the relationship with the visitor, the purpose and dates of the proposed visit, where the visitor will stay, and which costs the sponsor will pay. It is supporting evidence for a UK Standard Visitor visa application, not a visa or an approval from the Home Office.
Is a sponsorship declaration compulsory for a UK visitor visa?
There is no prescribed sponsorship declaration that every Standard Visitor applicant must submit. If someone else will provide the visitor's travel costs, living expenses or accommodation, however, the application should clearly disclose that support and include suitable evidence of what the sponsor can and will provide. A declaration can help bring those arrangements together in one document.
Who can sponsor someone for a UK visit visa?
A relative, friend, employer or another person with a genuine personal or professional relationship with the visitor may provide support. Under the Visitor rules, the third party must be able and willing to support the visitor for the intended stay and must not be in breach of immigration law at the relevant time. The Home Office considers the relationship and the sponsor's circumstances as well as the promise of support.
Does a visit visa sponsor have to be a British citizen or hold a sponsor licence?
No. A UK-based sponsor does not have to be British, but should provide evidence that they are legally in the UK if relevant. Sponsoring a visitor by offering accommodation or funds is different from holding a Home Office sponsor licence for a work or study route.
Is a sponsorship declaration the same as an invitation letter?
They can cover similar information. An invitation letter may explain why the visitor is coming and the relationship between the parties. A sponsorship declaration usually sets out more expressly what financial support or accommodation the sponsor undertakes to provide. Either document should be accurate and consistent with the visitor's application and supporting evidence.
What information should a visit visa sponsorship declaration include?
It should identify the sponsor and visitor, explain their relationship, state the reason for the visit and the intended dates, and give the address where the visitor will stay if accommodation is offered. It should specify whether the sponsor will pay for travel, accommodation, day-to-day expenses or only some of those costs. The statement should reflect what the sponsor can genuinely provide, rather than use a broad promise that the evidence cannot support.
Can I provide accommodation without paying for the visitor's flights or expenses?
Yes. Third-party support can cover some or all of a visitor's reasonable costs. The declaration should say precisely what you will provide and who will meet the remaining costs. The visitor must still show that the overall arrangements cover their stay and return or onward journey without working or relying on public funds.
Do I need to own my home to accommodate a visitor?
Home ownership is not a general requirement under the Visitor rules. If you rent or live with someone else, you should be able to explain where the visitor will stay and provide appropriate evidence that the accommodation is available. Check any relevant tenancy restrictions or permissions before offering to host a visitor.
What documents can a UK sponsor provide with the declaration?
Depending on the support offered, useful evidence may include proof of identity and lawful UK status, recent bank statements, proof of earnings or savings, and evidence of the proposed accommodation. Evidence of the relationship with the visitor may also help. The documents should show that the sponsor can support the visitor while continuing to meet their own and their dependants' commitments.
Is there a minimum income or bank balance for a visit visa sponsor?
The Visitor rules do not set one fixed income or bank balance for every sponsor. The Home Office considers the likely cost and length of the visit, what the sponsor has promised to pay, the source and availability of the funds, and the sponsor's other financial commitments. A declaration alone is unlikely to resolve concerns about whether the promised support is affordable.
Does the visitor need their own money if I pay for the whole trip?
A visitor may rely on genuine third-party support for travel, maintenance and accommodation if the requirements are met. They should clearly declare that support in the application and provide evidence of the sponsor's ability and intention to pay. The visitor must still satisfy the other Visitor requirements, including a genuine temporary purpose and an intention to leave the UK at the end of the visit.
What evidence should the visitor provide, in addition to the sponsorship declaration?
The visitor should provide evidence relevant to their own circumstances, such as their purpose of travel, employment or studies, finances where relevant, and commitments in their country of residence. The Home Office assesses the application as a whole. A sponsor's statement does not replace evidence that the visitor is coming for a permitted activity and will leave after the visit.
How can I prove my relationship with the visitor?
The appropriate evidence depends on the relationship. Family members may use birth or marriage certificates where relevant. Friends or professional contacts may explain how they know each other and provide proportionate evidence of ongoing contact or the reason for the invitation. Any account in the declaration should match the information given in the visitor's application.
Does a visit visa sponsorship declaration have to be sworn or witnessed by a solicitor?
The Visitor rules do not generally require every sponsor's supporting statement to be sworn before a solicitor. Some sponsors choose a formal declaration and have their signature witnessed by a solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths. Witnessing confirms the signing process; it does not establish that every statement is true or guarantee that the visa will be granted.
Is Home Office form SU07 required for a Standard Visitor visa?
No. Form SU07 is a sponsorship undertaking used for the adult dependent relative route. It is not the standard form for sponsoring an ordinary family or friend visit under the Standard Visitor route. A visitor's supporting documents should be tailored to the Visitor rules and the actual arrangements for the trip.
Does a sponsor guarantee that the visitor will leave the UK?
No sponsor can guarantee a visitor's future conduct or the outcome of a visa application. The applicant must personally satisfy the Home Office that they are a genuine visitor who will leave at the end of the visit. A declaration should give truthful information about the sponsor's relationship and support, without claiming to prove matters outside the sponsor's knowledge.
Will a sponsorship declaration guarantee a UK visit visa?
No. The Home Office considers the visitor's intentions, personal circumstances, proposed activities, finances and immigration history alongside any third-party support. Even a solicitor-drafted or witnessed declaration does not guarantee success. If a previous application was refused, the reasons for refusal should be addressed with appropriate evidence rather than simply submitting a new declaration.
How is the sponsorship declaration submitted to UKVI?
The applicant normally includes a copy with the supporting documents for their visitor visa application, following the document submission instructions for that application. The sponsor should give the applicant the signed declaration and relevant supporting evidence in good time. The declaration, application form and financial documents should be consistent about the visit and who is paying for it.
Can Premium Solicitors draft or witness my visit visa sponsorship declaration?
Yes. Premium Solicitors offers a fixed-fee service to draft a sponsorship declaration and witness the sponsor's signature, or to witness a signature on a declaration that is already prepared. A witnessing appointment is separate from full advice on the visitor visa application or a review of all its supporting evidence; arrange those services separately if needed.
